This is a follow up to my previous post about my struggles with Nikon’s View NX program that recently stopped working 100%.

After some discussions with various people, Steve Wong and DKSF, I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to set my D700 camera to default “in camera” processing.  Based on some initial research and experimentation by DKSF, it appears that Lightroom 3 (LR3) and Nikon’s ViewNX2 (VNX2) process the pictures about the same.  It is very hard to tell the difference between the two RAW file processing programs.  Basically to my eye they are the same.

I’m worried that I won’t be able to recreate the vivid pictures I like to create and share with my in camera settings applied.  It seems like more experimenting needs to be done.

If you have any experience, suggestions, etc, please post a comment.  I would like to hear your ideas and thoughts.
